Who We Are
The Society for Environmental Awareness (SEA) is an international non-profit association (iVZW), established by Royal Decree in Belgium. We bring together science, art, education, and shared experience to deepen environmental awareness and reconnect people with nature.
Through knowledge, creativity, education, and direct experiences in nature, SEA makes environmental and scientific issues accessible to wider audiences. From climate change and biodiversity loss to oceans, ecosystems, and the human–nature relationship, we create opportunities to learn, reflect, connect, and engage.
Why It Matters
Climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation can feel distant or overwhelming. SEA helps make these challenges understandable, visible, and relevant.
We believe awareness begins with knowledge, connection, and experience. By deepening understanding, we can strengthen responsibility — and turn responsibility into meaningful action.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple yet urgent.
To inspire, educate, and deepen understanding of the environmental changes shaping our planet and oceans.
We believe that awareness begins with making the invisible visible — from melting permafrost to disappearing coral reefs, from scientific processes to their impact on people and ecosystems.
By translating science and research into compelling stories, images, and experiences, we engage both hearts and minds and help reconnect people with the natural world.
What We Do
• Educational Projects
We develop lectures, workshops, publications, and learning initiatives that translate scientific research into accessible knowledge for different audiences.
• Visual Storytelling & Exhibitions
Through photography, film, and exhibitions, we make environmental change visible and bring scientific and human stories to wider audiences.
• Science Communication & Collaboration
We work with universities, researchers, and scientific institutions to translate research into clear, engaging, and visually compelling communication.
• Events & Shared Experiences
Through conferences, lectures, retreats, and other gatherings, SEA creates opportunities for learning, dialogue, and deeper connection with nature.
• Projects & Partnerships
We develop and support projects aligned with SEA’s mission, working with partners across science, education, culture, and society.
