Mission Statement
The mission of the Society for Environmental Awareness is to increase awareness and understanding of science, the impacts of climate change, and the loss of biodiversity.
To achieve this, the association will use all means permitted. We aim to build bridges between science, policy, industry, and the public through (support for) visual communication, fostering collective action to reduce the impact of climate change and to protect both people and the environment. The organization seeks to raise people’s awareness of themselves and their role as part of nature, bringing them closer to the natural world by placing the relationship with oneself, and between humans and nature, at the center.
In addition, with a view to the global promotion of its mission and vision, the organization strives to support organizations and/or projects with a similar purpose — in terms of content, finance, logistics, and/or organization.
The association pursues its objectives through, among others, the following activities:
1. International exhibitions and photo projects
Organizing and/or supporting (photo) exhibitions with photographic documentation of the impact of climate change, biodiversity, the human–nature relationship, global science projects, etc., with a focus on polar regions, oceans, island nations, science, water, and energy — in order to promote debate, knowledge, and understanding of humanity’s role in protecting vulnerable ecosystems.
2. Lectures and conferences
Organizing and/or supporting international lectures, conferences, and workshops, in cooperation with governments, companies, organizations, institutions, and educational bodies, to increase knowledge and awareness of the links between climate change, biodiversity, and human activity, as well as various scientific projects.
3. Educational programs
Developing, organizing, and/or supporting educational projects and materials to raise awareness among both adults and children of the causes and consequences of climate change, as well as the necessity of environmental conservation and scientific research.
4. Collaboration with scientific institutes
Organizing and/or supporting, among other things, scientific communication by collaborating with educational and research institutions and international bodies, with special attention to polar and marine research. Projects may focus on translating scientific work and findings into accessible, visually powerful stories, showing how science can help bridge the gap between humans and nature and making research accessible to a broad audience.
5. Public campaigns
Organizing and/or supporting awareness campaigns through various media to attract wider public attention and communicate the urgency of biodiversity conservation and climate action.
6. Publications and content creation
Producing all kinds of publications and media content in support of the association’s goals.
7. Sharing knowledge and insights
Promoting the development of a deeper relationship with both people’s inner nature and the natural environment.
The Society for Environmental Awareness aims to create a platform where science, art, and active engagement come together to seek joint solutions to the environmental challenges of our time.
“Visual storytelling can turn awareness into action.”
